Historic Building Surveyor (HB/24)

We are seeking a highly experienced and passionate Historic Building Surveyor to join our dynamic team. As a Historic Building Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in the preservation and conservation of our nation’s heritage. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive surveys of historic buildings, identifying and assessing their condition, and recommending appropriate remedial measures. You will also collaborate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of conservation projects.

Location: Thame, Oxfordshire

Reports To: Senior Historic Building Surveyor

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive surveys of historic buildings, including detailed inspections, condition assessments, and photographic documentation.
  • Identify and assess the condition of historic buildings, including structural integrity, fabric, and finishes.
  • Research and compile historical and architectural information on historic buildings.
  • Prepare detailed survey reports, including recommendations for conservation and repair.
  • Liaise with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of conservation projects.

Qualifications:

  • Chartered Building Surveyor (RICS) or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in historic building surveying.
  • Proven track record of conducting comprehensive surveys and preparing detailed reports.
  • Strong understanding of historic building regulations and conservation principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
